The Sky Warriors who painted the skies in Tricolor!

In their last flight, they raised the nation high!

Pilots: Squadron Leader Lokendra Singh Sindhu & Flight Lieutenant Rishi Raj Singh

When the Sky Wept

The skies of Rajasthan aren’t the same anymore!

The desert landscape now breathes the tears of many.

Just when most of us were busy with our regular schedules, a twin-seater Jaguar aircraft of the Indian Air Force which was on a routine training sortie, crashed in a remote village.

Two bravehearts Squadron Leader Lokendra Singh Sindhu and Flight Lieutenant Rishi Raj Singh breathed for the last time.

The aircraft went down in an open area, narrowly avoiding civilian settlements, an act believed to be the pilots’ final, conscious effort to protect lives on the ground. Veerta in its true sense was witnessed by many eyes!

While I am writing this, my mind still thinks of their last moments, their act of bravery and the will to do anything for the nation!

The Fearless Men Behind the Uniforms

  • Sqn Ldr Lokendra Singh Sindhu hailed from Rohtak, Haryana. Commissioned in 2016, he had dedicated nearly a decade of his life to the Indian Air Force.
  • Flt Lt Rishi Raj Singh, a young officer from Pali, Rajasthan, was on the cusp of a long and decorated journey in the forces. His loss is not just to the Air Force, but to our entire nation who barely begun to see his potential unfold.

Why is this incident a déjà vu?

This is the third Jaguar crash in 2025 alone. The aging Jaguar fleet, which has been flying since the late 1970s, is scheduled for phased retirement by 2035. Yet, as these aircrafts continue to be flown for training and attack roles, concerns are rising over safety, maintenance, and modernization.

Each crash brings renewed the urgency to fast-track the induction of newer platforms like the Tejas Mk II, Rafale, and AMCA.

Lost wings!

Let’s be clear, this is not just a crash. It is the loss of two vibrant lives, two dreams, two families. It is a moment that asks us not just to mourn, but to act. To ensure that our men and women in uniform are equipped with the best. That their courage is met with care. And that their sacrifices are never taken for granted.

In Memoriam

As the tricolor drapes two coffins, India bows its head in respect. Let’s not forget these bright names, the wings that carried the weight of many! The wings that painted the skies in the tricolour, today each one of us might know their names… but can we promise to keep them alive in our hearts forever?

They managed to save thousands of lives, can we remember their sacrifice for the rest of our lives?

The soil of Rajasthan will surely smell differently and the dew drops will always cherish their memories.

Let their legacy soar forever!

Jai Hind!
