An Open Letter to Kashmiris

Dear Kashmiris,

The beautiful humans of the Valley,
What can save you is your ownself.

You have bled the worst over the years.
You have heard the bullets, felt the panic, and lived the terror more than anyone could ever imagine. The echoes of fear and the shadows of violence have haunted your homes, your streets, your dreams. You’ve endured what most of us can never truly comprehend. Yet, in the face of this, you stand strong — a testament to resilience.

But, isn’t it time for a change?
Isn’t it time to break free from the chains that have held you in fear and uncertainty for so long?
Isn’t it time to realize that true progress and peace don’t come from supporting violence and terrorism, but from standing united against it?

I know, many of you understand this truth.
Many of you have taken steps at gunpoint, navigating the impossible reality that surrounds you every day. But the question is — Can’t we come together?
Can’t we unite, Kashmir, when the entire nation is ready to stand by you, to back you, to protect you?

Why aren’t we letting this happen?
Why do we let the forces of destruction tear apart the bond that’s always been there — the bond of humanity, the bond of a shared future?

You care enough, don’t you?

I believe you do.
Because every time a tourist smiles at you, they remind you of your beauty — the breathtaking landscapes, the warmth of your hospitality, the rich culture that the world admires.
They come to you with admiration, not just for your shawls, your crafts, or your food, but for the heart of Kashmir itself — your spirit.
They invest in you. They buy your goods, they cherish your art, and they respect your hard work in the fields and mountains that sustain not just you, but the world’s love for this land.

Did you forget all of it?

Did you forget the smiles of those who came here with dreams of peace, to simply witness the breathtaking grace of Kashmir?

Remember those 26 souls who perished not just because they were tourists, but because they were people like you — people with hopes, with families, with dreams of a world united by love, not divided by hatred.
They came to you not just to see the mountains, but to be part of your story, to capture your beauty in their hearts, to narrate the tales of your land to their loved ones.
They, too, saw the Kashmir that lies beyond the terror — the Kashmir that deserves peace, prosperity, and hope.

Kashmir, the time to change is now.
The time to leave the past of violence and separation behind is now.

This is your moment — your choice

You have the power to decide whether you want to keep living under the shadow of terror or whether you want to stand in the light of progress, unity, and peace.

When you stand against terrorism, you do not stand alone.
The entire nation stands with you. The youth of India — every corner of this great land — is ready to embrace you with open arms. We are ready to support you, to protect you, and to build a future where your children can sleep peacefully, free from the fear of violence.

But this can only happen if you decide to stand up.
If you decide that enough is enough, and that you are ready to say no to terror, no to fear, and yes to a future filled with hope.

You, the children of this land, have always been the guardians of Kashmir’s beauty, spirit, and soul. Let your courage be the beacon that lights the path for future generations. Let your actions be the ones that bring Kashmir back into the embrace of peace, not just for your children, but for every single person who calls this nation home.

Together, we are unstoppable

Together, we will build the Kashmir we always dreamt of — one that stands united, not divided. One that thrives, not suffers. One that embraces peace and prosperity, not violence and despair.

The world is waiting for Kashmir’s return to peace. The world is waiting for you.

With respect, love, and unity,

    An Indian who cares
